Oil tankers to pay Rs. 50 per litre for operating in JMC limits | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 8: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has imposed a fee of Rs. 50 per litre on the oil tankers, which leave the oil company depots in the Corporation limits. A Councillor of JMC Anil Kumar reportedly submitted a resolution before the Corporation, in which the Councillor had requested that the charges should be imposed on Oil tankers and oil depots, located inside JMC limits. Councillor stressed that the most of the corporations in the country, cess on Petrol tanks along with Oil depots is charged and in the same manner, JMC should also impose fee to make the Corporation financially sound. The authority for the levy of taxes and fees is provided under Municipal Corporation Act 2000. The scope of the authority to leavy taxes/fee as well as the purpose for which levy is made can be considered in the corporation and it has been found that oil tankers are getting dispatched from the oil depots of the oil companies shall be deposited the fee in the municipal chest on monthly basis. A resolution is accordingly moved before the House under the chairmanship of Mayor JMC Chander Mohan Gupta, allowing the corporation to charge of fee from oil tanker Rs 50 per litre leaving the oil company depots located in the Municipal Corporation limits. Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Chander Mohan Gupta along with Deputy Mayor Purnima Sharma and JMC Commissioner Pankaj Magotra awarded Councillor of ward no 68 Anil Kumar for moving the resolution. |
