Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 15: Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu on Friday said the Panchayati Raj and Local Bodies have empowered people on the ground. "India is the largest democracy in the world and people from the government should work for the public welfare and have a major role to play," Murmu said, while addressing the participants from 19 states and Union Territories, attending the Regional Conference on 'Replication of Good Governance Practices in the Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh. Union MoS Jitendra Singh was also present on the occasion, while Ladakh LG R K Mathur could not attend the function, as he could not arrive due to inclement weather conditions. The LG said, "Administrative set up should work for the welfare of people." |
