Heavy rainfall damages paddy crop, growers seek compensation | | | Arun Jasrotia Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Nov 16: The incessant unseasonal rains have become a matter of grave concern for farmers in Udhampur district as they are playing havoc with the standing crops as well as the harvested crops such as paddy and other seasonal crops. Paddy was damaged heavily though for other crops the extent was bit less. Due to heavy rains, the Paddy got soaked in the water causing enormous loss to farmers who invested on them. Farmers especially in Baryal in Panchayat Kashirah of District Udhampur are worst sufferers as heavy rainfall damaged the paddy crop after harvest. Eighty percent of Paddy crop in almost 400 kanals of fields damaged completely due to rain which ruin the hopes of several farmers, who were totally dependent upon the paddy crop. Farmers seek early compensation of damaged crops. |
