11/19/2019 10:03:59 PM
Early Times Report
Kathua, Nov 19: Former Minister and President DCC Dr Manohar Lal Sharma along with other leaders of the district today hold a protest rally at kathua against the present economic crises in the country and also submitted a memorandum to The President of India through the office of the Deputy commissioner kathua apprising about economic and political situation in the country and the UT of J&k. While speaking he said Indian economy is in shambles, job creation is in comma and agricultural growth is alarming low. Further he said that the BJP govt. is selling India's interest at every step and bartering our financial independence and economic stability.
He said according to NSSO office unemployment is all time high in 45 years and still climbing. According to CMIE unemployment rate stands at 8.19% in august 2019.
GDP growth is slowest for the last six years. India has dropped to the level of the 7th largest economy from being 5th largest in the world. He said new private investments have hit a 16 year low. Industrial growth shrank to 1.1% in august 2019 whereas manufacturing growth rate -1.2 is lowest since October 2014.Further he said bank's NPA's are already Rs 800000 crore and to add to the financial woes central governments Gross Tax revenues for 2019-20 are likely to see a shortfall of rs 200000 crore.
Agriculture sector has slipped to mere 2% in the first quarter of FY 20. Instead of the promised 50 % cost + AMSP, farmers has been left at the mercy of market forces. Farmer is facing the double whammy of no MSP for the crops and bearing huge doses of taxation vis a vis the agriculture inputs.
Dr Sharma stated that BJP government's first assault was demonetization followed by flawed GST. Now probable signing of the regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) is an assault on Indian Farmers, shopkeeper's small & medium bussisnesses.
Degradation of J&k TO UT- He further said it feels pain to see that J&K has been divided, disbanded and degraded in to two UT's from a state in a most arbitrary and unconstitutional manner whereby its identity, glorious history, culture and status of one of the oldest DOGRA stae has been trampled against the wishes and the will of the overwhelming majority of the people of the state. Also said that this is for the first time that a state has been converted to UT where as in general cases an UT is converted to a state and also
It is demanded that the govt of INDIA should remove unreasonable restrictions and restore peace and normalcy in every sphere of activities and allow the freedom of exchange of ideas and should immediately restore the full statehood status at the earliest with constitutional safguards for the land and jobs for the locals.
