Kathua, Dec 19: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, O P Bhagat today convened a meeting to review the arrangements for Republic Day function.
Discussion was held regarding security and traffic management, power and water supply, sanitation, seating arrangements besides illumination of important buildings etc.
The DC constituted various committees to ensure proper arrangements well in time and stressed upon the officers to put in coordinated efforts for smooth and successful celebration of the national event.
It was informed in the meeting that the day would start with Shehnai Vadan played by District Information Centre, followed by hoisting of flag at sports stadium and march past by the contingents of Police, Army, NCC, Forest Protection Force and various educational institutes. A cultural programme on patriotic theme will be presented and the function would culminate with the prize distribution ceremony. The DC also directed all the concerned officers that they should abstain themselves from using plastic material during Republic Day celebrations and temporary sanitation complex be provided at sports stadium before the beginning of rehearsals.
