Conduct weekly hearing of old cases for speedy justice: Justice Magray to Judicial Officers | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Dec 19: High Court Judge, Justice Ali Muhammad Magray today asked the judicial officers to take up the 10 to 15-year-old cases on weekly basis for expediting their disposal. He said this during a meeting of judicial officers to review the status of old cases in different courts of Kashmir division. The meeting was attended by Principal District & Sessions Judge Abdul Rashid Malik and other judicial officers at Court Complex Mominabad here. During the meeting, Justice Magray emphasized to expedite the disposal of cases according to their merit so that the litigants feel relieved besides making judiciary more efficient and trustworthy. He reiterated the role of courts in ensuring speedy justice to the litigants who approach courts for relief. "It is our constitutional and moral duty to ensure speedy justice. The main aim of the trail is to provide a sense of closure for the victims. The judicial system is meant to award justice to the litigants without delay," he told judicial officers. Earlier, J&K High Court Bar Association (JKHCBA) Srinagar members welcomed Justice Magray and thanked him for his pro-active approach in building infrastructure for the welfare of lawyers, litigants and judicial officers. Earlier Principal District & Sessions Judge Abdul Rashid Malik briefed Justice Magray about the steps taken for early redressal of old cases. He also gave overall overview of ongoing developmental activities in the court. |
