| Advsior Sharma pitches for uniform rate of tax on lotteries | | 38th GST Council meeting | |

JAMMU, Dec 19: Advisor to Lt. Governor, K.K. Sharma, attended the 38th GST Council meeting held under the Chairmanship of Union Finance Minister at New Delhi.
During the meeting, the issue regarding fixation of rate of tax on government run and government authorized lotteries came up for discussion.
Participating in the discussion, Sharma emphasized a uniform rate of tax on sale of all kinds of lotteries.
Later, the voting took place on the issue and the Council decided that a uniform rate of 28% shall be imposed on sale of all kinds of lotteries with effect from 1st of March 2020.
The Advisor made a presentation during the meeting on the measures taken up by the J&K Government to facilitate resumption of normal business activities. Further, the presentation included good practices prevalent in the GST administration of JK Union Territory for revenue increase which were also shared with other state and UTs of the country. |
