In a statement issued here, today he said that these hapless people are leading a miserable and hard life. Hakla said that Gujjars Bakarwals are guarding the borders of the country in the state and have also played a remarkable roll in this regard right from partition of the country. He said that problems of these people however have compounded over the years as the successive government failed to take due care of them. Shamsher Hakla Poonchi, Prominent Gujjar Leader and intellectual of Jammu and Kashmir in his press release, appealed the Lieutenant Governor of J&K Girish Chandra Murmu to approach the Government of India with the recommendation that Gojri language may be included in the 8th schedule of the constitution of India. This would ensure the development and spread of Gojri language. Shamsher Hakla Poonchi further added that the Gojri language is being spoken by a very large number population of Gujjars and Bakerwals of Jammu and Kashmir the number of which goes over thirty four lakhs which is no way could be ignored and their only mother language is Gojri, therefore, keeping in view the demand of such a huge number of population of Gujjar and Bakerwals of J&K the inclusion of Gojri language in the 8th schedule of constitution of India, is most genuine and justified, he said. |
