ICT Labs worth Crores gathering dust in Poonch | CEO Poonch is in deep slumber | | Rajesh Tandon Early Times Report POONCH, Dec 28: Despite huge flow of funds for the establishment of Information Communication Technology (ICT) Labs in Poonch district, Education department has failed to utilize the labs for compute base learning. Over 120 ICT labs are either locked or gathering dust due to non serious approach of the department to compel head of the Schools to use labs for the teaching purposes. Sources in the Education department revealed that Only Poonch Zone has over 37 ICT Labs and over Rs 10 Lakhs have been spent on each labs in Poonch over but all are gathering dust, as no strict directions have been issued to the head masters. One of the teachers in Poonch Zone said that the department has not given special training to any of the School teachers to run the ICT Labs, due to which the teachers do not take interest where as in some Schools most of the items of ICT labs are either taken over at Homes or lying dysfunctional. He also revealed that Due to callous attitude of ZEO's or Headmasters students are deprived of such facility. Sources also disclosed that in some schools where computer trained teachers are available Headmasters are not giving them charge of the Lab. A Computer trained teacher disclosed on the condition of anonymity that he is MSc IT and want to use ICT Lab but the Head of his institution done not want to give him the charge of the Lab. Even, some Higher Secondary Schools lacking Computer knowing teachers, which also caused non functional of the ICT Labs. On being contacted CEO Poonch Jagjeet Singh refused to comment on the issue. |
