JAMMU, Jan 01: Chief Secretary, B V R Subrahmanyam Wednesday chaired a preparatory meeting for the upcoming Republic Day-2020 celebrations on 26th January across Jammu and Kashmir. Detailed deliberations were held regarding the venues, security arrangements, parade / band contingents of Army, CRPF, Police, School Children, cultural items, seating arrangements, transport/parking arrangements, refreshment, sanitation, drinking water, power supply, medical aid and emergency facilities. It was informed that the main Republic Day function will be held at MA Stadium Jammu where Lieutenant Governor, Shri G C Murmu will take salute and preside over the function. At Srinagar, the function will be held at Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Stadium where Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Shri Farooq Khan will take the salute and preside over the function. Beating the Retreat ceremony will be organized on 29th January, 2020. The dress rehearsals for the main functions will commence from 6th January, 2020 with full dress rehearsal being organized on 24th January, 2020. Important Government buildings and landmarks will be illuminated on the evening of 25th and 26th January, 2020 to mark the occasion. He asked both the Divisional Commissioners to prepare an event wise booklet of the functions. He asked them to ensure that invitees / guests are seated observing the Warrant of Precedence issued recently on 17 December, 2019 by the Hospitality and Protocol Department. Chief Secretary directed the General Administration Department to issue a circular regarding participation of Government employees in the Republic Day celebrations and Beating the Retreat Ceremony and deploy liaison officers for the main function at M A Stadium. Chief Secretary directed the Divisional Commissioners to closely monitor the Republic Day preparations both at the main venues and also at the District, Sub Divisional and the Tehsil level with the DCs / SDMs to ensure that Republic Day-2020, which will be the first major function after the formation of the Union Territory, is celebrated with traditional fervour and gaiety. Chief Secretary asked both the Divisional Commissioners to formulate Committees for choosing the winners for the best parade contingent and cultural item award during the Republic Day functions. |
