People dismayed over non-completion of approach road for Naban bridge | | | Sushil Dutta Early Times Report RAJOURI, Jan 10: Half hearted and half way projects with no deadlines not only always remain a big source of disappointment for the general public but also bring undue burden on state exchequer as well as budgetary provisions associated with them. Same is the fate of a bridge near Naban Mohalla, Ward No 10 of Rajouri town as it has turned into a parking slot due to the non-completion of approach road for the bridge. Several locals said that the administration is working without any deadline and funds to the tune of crores are not being utilized properly due to lack of work ethics of officials and stakeholders. Pertinent to mention here that it was porposed to construct a circular road from Abdulla bridge via Anandpur Ashram to this bridge but the work is going on at snail's pace and the general public who were expecting a convenience coming up for them are in utter disappointment. When contacted with Executive Engineer JKPCC Rajouri Arshad Mir informed that the department was assigned the work to construct the bridge which they have constructed in stipulated time frame. Now, as far as the approach road is concerned the work is under PWD and it is their responsibility to construct the approach road. Meanwhile, Executive Engineer PWD Rajouri Mohd Zubair when contacted assured that very soon the work of the road will start due adding that it got delayed due to certain disputes and due to the lack of funding but the work will start soon and the approach road will be constructed as soon as possible. |
