JAMMU, Jan 10: District Health Society Jammu organized one day Law Enforcers Training under National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) in Collaboration with International Union against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease at Jammu in which 94 participants from different Departments like Health, Education, Police, Administration, Food and Drug Administration attended the said training programme. Chief Medical Officer Jammu, Dr Danish Ayub Khan welcomed all the participants and gave overview and objective of the training. Commissioner Food Safety, J&K, Vinod Sharma and Divisional Nodal Officer, NTCP Dr Mridula Singh familiarized the participants about the Burden of Tobacco Use in India and in Jammu and Kashmir and also briefed the participants about the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) in Jammu Division. National Expert, from New Delhi gave insight about the WHO-Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) and Best Practices in India. After that a detailed presentation was given on COTPA 2003 (Section 4&6) and Emerging Challenges & Opportunities along with Role of Multi-stakeholder engagement and Civil Society in effective implementation of tobacco control laws and Programme. Experts also spoke about the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Production, Manufacture, Import, Export, Transport, Sale, Distribution, Storage and Advertisement Act, 2019. |
