8 years on, Kahara-Tanta road incomplete

DODA, Jan 30: The inhabitants of panchayats Tanta, Goila, Chabba Batogra and other adjoining areas have alleged negligence and misappropriation in construction of road from Kahara to Tanta by the concerned agencies and demanded immediate completion of the work. Giving details to news agency Sajad Ahmed Naib Sarpanch of Goila panchayat said that PMGSY has started the construction of the said road from Kahara to Tanta some eight years ago and the work has not been completed yet. He also alleged that although the road has been constructed up to nine kilometers by the executing agency but the work done is not as per the specifications and guidelines. He further informed that the matter was brought into the notice of concerned PMGSY authorities and the DDC Doda was also approached in this regard but no action has been taken to date. He urged the Lieutenant Governor J&K UT to personally intervene into the matter and take appropriate action against the defaulters so that the said road gets completed and justice is done to the people of these far-flung areas. The locals also demanded a high-level inquiry into the construction work already completed and take strict action against the erring contractors.
