JAMMU, Feb 4: The meeting of Grazing Area Allotment Committee of Jammu District was held at under the Chairmanship of Samuel Changkija, Conservator of Forests East Circle Jammu Chairman, Grazing Area Allotment Committee District Jammu to discuss and decide the allotment of grazing areas to the seasonal Gujjars, Bakerwals and Gaddies in Jammu District for winter season of the year 2019-20.
The meeting was attended by Alok Kumar Maurya DFO Jammu, Ghan Shyam Singh ADC Jammu, Som Dutt Khajuria DFO Soil Conservation Division, Hitashi Sharma DFO Agrostologist, Ashwani Kumar DFO ETF, Range Officers, Forest frontline staff, Non Official members Ch. Nizam-ud-Din Khatana, Ch. Mohd Rafiq as well as number of seasonal graziers from Jammu, Jindrah, Bahu and Kalidhar Forest Ranges. Speaking on the occasion Samuel Changkija Conservator of Forest East Circle Jammu issued instructions to constitute the Range level grazing subcommittees within a week. These subcommittees shall be entrusted with the responsibility to identify the new grazing areas for the graziers dislocated due to development works. He also discussed the action taken report of the Grazing meeting held during previous year and instructed that rotational grazing should be continued to prevent the areas from further degradation.
