GDC Samba organises Dogri Kavi Goshthi

SAMBA, Feb 15: Government Degree College Samba organised a Dogri Mahila Kavi Goshthi in collaboration with Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi the first of its kind in J&K UT- on the theme NAARI CHETNA.
The function started with lighting of traditional lamp and followed by welcome address by Sh. Darshan Darshi, Convenor ,Dogri Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi. In the programme five female Dogri reputed poetesses namely Usha Kiran, Vijaya Thakur, Nirmal Vikram, Sunita Bhadwal and Sonia Khajuria recited Dogri poems on different themes and issues related to women in the society.
Dr.Ashok Kumar Bhagat HOD Chemistry also threw light on role of poets in the awakening of the society. He impressed upon the students to touch the various aspects of society through poems. In her address Dr. Sushma Mahajan, Principal of the College Samba laid emphasis on the importance of mother tongue and its use in day to day conversation. She extended sincere thanks to Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi for choosing our college for the organization of such National events in the propagation of Dogri language in the region.
In the end Dr. Narsing Dass HOD, Dogri GDC Samba, presented formal vote of thanks. The programme was organised under the supervision of Prof. Pawan Kumar Gupta, Convener Literary Club and Dr. PS Manhas, Convener Literary Committee of the college. Dr. Ram Singh, Prof. Suman Bala, Prof. Sunita devi, Dr. Balbeer, other prominent Dogri Male Writers and more than 150 students attended the Kavi Goshthi.
