Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 15: On the directions of Commissioner JMC Avny Lavasa, the Health and Sanitation staff of Jammu Municipal Corporation under the supervision of Health Officer conducted intensive drive against the menace of Open defecation, open Urination & littering of garbage in the areas viz Shalamar, Bus Stand, Vikram Chowk, Gandhi Nagar, Gole Market, New Plot, Nai Basti, Nanak Nagar, Shastri Nagar Digiana, Janipur, etc. During the drive, the teams of JMC penalized the defaulters for open defecation, urination and littering of garbage on the roads / lanes and imposed fine /penalty amounts to Rs. 71,000 on spot. Besides this, the drive was also launched to implement the ban on sale of polythene carry bags and disposable goods. 1100 KG of polythene and other disposable items were seized and an amount of Rs. 80500/- recovered as fine from defaulters. Moreover, 1400 defaulters were also challaned for various offences under the provisions of J&K Municipal Act 2000 and Solid Waste Management, Bye laws-2011. |
