Poonch, Feb 15: An ambulance driver has reportedly charged Rs. 4800 from an injured patient, who was shifted from Poonch to Jammu. According to the family members, Zarina Begum (a widow), is in BPL category and had sustained injuries while walking along a road. In serious condition she was brought to District Hospital Poonch from where she was referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu for treatment. According to victim, when the Ambulance, in which she was shifted from Poonch, reached near the GMC Jammu, the driver of Ambulance, Bashir Shah charged Rs. 4800 from her, said her son Niaz Shah. After the matter was brought to the notice of Superintendent, Dr. Shamim Bhatti, he would initiate an enquiry and said that proper action would be taken if the driver is found guilty. |
