CAPD dealer allegedly supplies rotten rice to consumer, inquiry initiated | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 27: In an alleged case of supply of rotten rice to its customers by Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution department, Additional District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Mohammad Hanief Malik today order on spot inspection of the sale depot through Tehsildar Drabshalla. As per the details available with Early Times, one Mohammad Rafiq Son of Abdul Subhan Resident of Chamoti Drabshalla today approach the office of ADDC Kishtwar and displayed the rotten and unfit rice before the senior official alleging that the dealer at store supplied him the unhygienic and rotten rice as a result of which his family members including his wife and children’s fall ill after they consume it. He said that on complaint to the dealer , he instead of replacing the rice provided to him started using harsh language with him added that even the wheat supplied to the consumers often exhibited foul smell. After hearing the applicant beside checking the quality of the rice which the applicant brought with himself, ADDC Kishtwar Mohammad Hanief Malik immediately directed Tehsildar Drabshalla to conduct the on spot verification of the said CAPD depot. Speaking to Early Times, CAPD dealer Mohammad Yousaf admitted that the rotten rice was wrongly provided to the applicant by a helper assisting him at the said sale depot added that after he came to know about the matter, he immediately ask the applicant to get the rice consignment back so that he could provide him the better quality rice. He said that the applicant instead of visiting to sale depot rushed with complaint in the office of ADDC Kishtwar. Meanwhile acting on the directions of ADDC Kishtwar, team of revenue officials from Drabshalla including two Naib Tehsildars conducted the raid in the government run sale depot and take the sample of the wheat and rice dumped in the said sale depot. The official at the helm of the affairs inform the Early Times that the revenue officials who visited the depot found 50 bags of wheat and rice dumped inside the depot added that they also found one bag of rice in the depot which apparently look unfit for consumption. He said that the samples had been collected from the said depot while at the same will submit a detail visit report to ADDC Kishtwar for further perusal. |
