New Delhi: Parts of Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Himachal Pradesh will experience rains and thunderstorms on February 28, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted on Friday.Besides, the northwest region, including Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi are also expected to receive scattered rainfall today, due to western disturbances and the induced circulation.
Western Disturbance is an extra-tropical storm that can induce substantial rain and snow over the northwestern parts of IndiaAs per the forecast, Jammu & Kashmir will experience thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain/snow at isolated places on Friday. Following this, a yellow alert has been placed over Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, with local residents advised to ‘be aware’ of the weather conditions.
Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh is likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds at a speed of 30-40 kmph at isolated places.
Some regions of Punjab and Haryana will also witness thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds at a speed of 30-40 kmph today. |
