Cong seeks LG’s intervention in early completion of development projects | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 11: Expressing concern over delay in completion of projects in Jammu city, the District Congress Committee (DCC) leaders today urged Lt Governor GC Murmu to personally monitor the pending projects in the city. “Unfortunately, the City of Temples lacks upgradation in terms of sanitary, parking and tourism system, giving bad expression to the tourists, especially pilgrim tourists visiting the city,” senior DCC leader Varun Magotra told media persons after holding a meeting of congress leaders and workers of Jammu district. He said that several projects had been undertaken by previous regimes for beautification and improving other facilities in and around Jammu city but unfortunately there has not been any forward movement in completion of these projects. “It’s not only the bureaucracy but also the lack of will on the part of present dispensation to give fillip to improvement of all-round facilities for the people and the visitors,” Magotra said, adding, the much hyped Gondola project across River Tawi from Peer Kho is in shambles and the Tawi Lake project is not making any headway. The senior Congress leader also pointed out that the City is suffocating due to lack of parking space right from Panjtirthi area of City as such people are put to lot of inconvenience. “There is also no headway in heritage projects of Mubarak Mandi and Raghunath Bazaar, though all paper work and funds were earmarked for them by the authorities,” he regretted. Magotra urged the LG to personally look into these aspects and hold those responsible for bringing impediments in completion of these projects in Jammu city. |
