Kashmir netas silent of multiple killings by terrorists | | | Early Times Report srinagar, Apr 9: Even as the politicians in Kashmir often look for ways and means to criticize New Delhi, such faces have been silent over the recent killing of at least four civilians by terrorists in south Kashmir. Since the day the government announced lockdown in Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of coronavirus outbreak, at least four civilians were killed by terrorists in separate incidents. Though the police department was prompt enough to circulate the news of such killings, not a single political party based in Kashmir or the politicians have condemned it. Ironically, even though politicians like former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who was recently released from prison, have been active on Twitter, he has not made even a single statement on such killings. A police official told Early Times that such killings took place in the last 22 days when the world is busy fighting coronavirus. It is pertinent to mention that political parties in Kashmir often prefer silence over the killing of civilians by the terrorists but only look for opportunity to corner New Delhi in the name of so called right abuse by security forces. Interestingly for such politicians making statements, seeking resumption of 4G internet is more important than condemnation of loss of civilian lives. Interestingly even on the days when the civilians were killed, the Kashmir netas were busy seeking resumption of high speed internet, which has been blocked to keep check on anti-national activities. The so called civil society groups in Kashmir have also not bothered to condemn such rights abuse in the valley. Even the business bodies like the KCCI, KEA and other such forums have also been silent on the issue, the complainants said. A senior police official told Early Times that unless people of Kashmir including politicians and civil society groups wake up against atrocities done by terrorists the innocents will continue to get killed unheard. |
