Early Times Report
Jammu Apr 13: On the fifth day of ongoing Natrang’s Quarantine Theatre Festival, ‘Mind Games’, a play in Hindi was featured on social media platforms of Natrang. ‘Mind Games’ is highly experimental play which has been Conceived, Written & Directed by Sumeet Sharma, a Post Graduate in Dramatics and recipient of SNA’s Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for Theatre Direction. Natrang Director, Sh. Balwant Thakur stated that at the time of social-distancing because of COVID 19 outbreak, online theatre is the only possible and safest way to take theatre to the audience worldwide and in this series, Natrang is streaming the videos of its select plays of different genres from its vast archives. The play ‘Mind Games’ unveils a very common, unconscious and continuous practice of all human beings, chatting with Mind and creating baseless abstract stories all the times, which give rise to thoughts which when nurtured become attitude and eventually shape our behaviour and personality causing success or failure. The play revolves around a character Ajeet, who represents the mind model of a contemporary man whose rejections, anxiety, likes, dislikes, passions, reasons, fears, emotions, fantasies, dreams, etc. have a lot to share with all of us. The absurd thoughts which he develops create humour but unknowingly we are laughing at our own habits and short-sightedness while laughing at him. The theme of the play ‘Mind Games’ is universal yet unique. It does not reflect the story of one particular character or situation but showcases the instinctive behaviour of all human beings. On Tuesday, 14th April, ‘Mata Ki Kahani’ would be featured on Natrang Jammu’s social media platforms under the direction of Balwant Thakur. |
