3 militants killed in Qazigund encounter, 7 civilians injured after explosion at gunfight site | | | Early Times Report
KULGAM, Apr 27: Three unidentified militants were killed in an encounter with security forces at Lower Munda village of Qazigund in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday. While as seven civilians including six children were injured after unexploded blast went off at the encounter sight. A joint team of 19 RR, Special Operation Group and Central Reserve Police Force following specific information launched a search operation at Lower Munda village of Qazigund in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district. As the joint team of forces intensified the searches the hiding militants opened fire triggering off an encounter. As encounter intensified, three unidentified militants were killed by the security forces. The identity of the militants is yet to be ascertained. “Three unidentified militants were killed. Arms and ammunition recovered. More details to follow,” a senior police official said. Soon after the encounter was over, score of people rushed to gunfight and as per the report seven civilians were injured including six children after an unexploded device went off at the encounter site at the Lower-Munda Qazigund, Kulgam where three militants were killed. “The incident took place as a group of people were clearing debris from the house razed to the ground by the forces during the morning gunfight where three militants were killed,” sources said. “Soon after the incident, the injured were rushed to (PHC) Qazigund hospital for advanced treatment. From there, two of them were shifted to GMH Dooru for advanced treatment where their condition is stated to be stable,” he said. Of the seven total injured, six are children including five minors. Sources said one of the injured boys has been referred to SMHS hospital Srinagar for advanced treatment.
