Jammu, Apr 29: Accusing the govt of following two different sets of norms for the rich and poor, Manju Singh General Secretary JKNPP has demanded the evacuation of stranded labourers in various states at the earliest possible. Referring to the eviction of hundreds of influential people by airlifting them, Manju sought similar facility for J&K labourers stranded in other states. “These labourers were confined in small unhygienic rooms with even 50-60 people holed up in single rooms in various states including Punjab, HP, Haryana, Delhi, UP, MP, Gujarat, Maharashtra, West Bengal, AP, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu etc. They not only faced threat of corona infection but were suffering starvation due to non availability of food and other essentials,” said Manju She said that there is a need to immediately allow the entry of stranded labourers at Lakhanpur to their respective districts wherein they could be quarantined and given medical aid if needed. She said that the central and state govts should devise a suitable strategy for safe eviction of all stranded people particularly the poor and indigent masses who were resourceless and penniless struggling and starving in extremely difficult situations.
