Man alleges ‘beaten up’ by cop inside premises of PS Ramnagar | | | Early Times Report
RAMNAGAR, Apr 29: In an alleged case of police high handedness inside the premises of Police Station (PS) Ramnagar, a man was severely beaten by a cop on duty when he had gone there after being summoned for some questioning. The man identified as Jeet Kumar of Sunetar, Ramnagar alleged that the policemen thrashed him inside the police station premises even as he had not been involved in any offence. While talking to Early Times, Jeet Kumar said that he had received a phone call from Police Station that an FIR has been registered against him after which he went to the Police Station. “After reaching Police Station, the cop began abusing me and misbehaved with me. All of a sudden he started to thrash me without any reason,” said Jeet. He further said that he is contesting a land dispute case in Udhampur Court with one Rattan, who has several friends in police and it looks like that it was all his handiwork. “Rattan may have used his influence in order to pressurize me so that I withdraw the land dispute case. I have lodged a complaint against erring cop,” said Jeet Kumar. When contacted, SHO Ramnagar Jaswinder Singh, said that he was not present at the police station when the incident took place. “An inquiry has been initiated into the matter,” he said.
