Problems of stranded people stuck in lockdown multiplied: LAM | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 10: Woes of stranded people including students, labourers and other hapless people have increased many folds because reportedly the government officials / officers assigned the job of evacuating them often do not attend to the telephone calls of these helpless and hapless people and as such their worries have multiplied, was stated by Dr Amar Chand Bhagat – chairman Lok Adhikaar Mission (LAM) J&K in a press statement issued here today. Elaborating the matter further he said that almost all the telephone numbers displayed on internet of Directory of Jammu district etc, are landline numbers and almost all of them do not exist. And the height of things is that if at all by some lucky chance, telephone bell rings on dialing, nobody attends to it. This clearly shows that to what extent the authorities at the helm of affairs are making an ugly joke with this poor and helpless people stuck down in lockdown situation and to what extent they are sensitive to the woes of these people. These stranded persons are held up at Jammu and in its outstricks and same is the situation in Srinagar (Kashmir). These people throughout the day are making telephone calls here and there but are not in a position to get any clue as whatever government agencies; they are not in a position to reach out to these people. Lok Adhikaar Mission J&K makes an earnest appeal before JKUT administration and particularly the Lt. Governor JKUT to probe into the matter and pass instructions which are effectively implemented on ground so that the woes of stranded people could be resolved.
