Jammu, May 12: As the Government has announced nationwide lockdown to contain the spread of Covid-19, the district administration Poonch is working in a mission mode and in an unwavering spirit to ensure the supply of sufficient essential commodities in the district. To provide necessary grocery items in tehsil Haveli, 18 Kirana stores have been nominated for the purpose. Doorstep delivery of grocery items to the customers has also been started to restrict the movement/gathering of people. Arrangements have been made to keep a buffer stock of ration, LPG, medicines, mid-day meal ration. Financial assistance to the tune of Rs 40 lakh ( Rs 1,000 per head) have been disbursed to the unorganized labourers besides educational assistance of Rs 1.99 crore for their wards. As many as 1,630 migrant labourers were provided meal and dry ration during the lockdown. Several NGOs have been roped in to ensure the ration delivery at the doorsteps and to provide advance two months ration under Pardhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana among the beneficiaries. The district administration is ensuring the supply of essential commodities such as Vegetables, Ration, Gas Cylinder, oil, chicken, fodder, Kirana items, milk, and medicines to the public. The Revenue and Food and Civil Supplies departments in coordination with local associations are ensuring proper market checking and price fixation for vegetables, fruits, egg, chicken and mutton. The district administration has sealed all the entry and exit points in the district and enduring all the SOPs and protocols are followed by the public.
