EARLY TIMES REPORT
UDHAMPUR, May 12: In a surprising development, a well-known leader of Udhampur has triggered a controversy by his comment involving Kashmir and the same has unleashed all wraths for him especially on different social media platforms. Ex-MLA Pawan Gupta in an interview told that government is not allowing 4G internet services in Jammu region as it may amount to regional discrimination with Kashmir. The statement had an effect of wild fire as sooner than later the social media buffs started condemning the leader for his comment. However, in the interview when the reporter asked Gupta why he was so much worried about Kashmir people he took a U-turn and said perhaps it may be some policy of centre not to allow 4G internet services in J&K. Meanwhile, a youth Congress leader said that if Pawan Gupta has so much pain for Kashmir he should contest from there next time. Panthers Party leader, Balwant Singh Mankotia reacted to the development saying that still appeasement of Kashmiri elements is there among leaders of Jammu. He demanded restoration of 4G internet in peaceful areas of Jammu division except some districts which are sensitive due to security reasons. Pawan Gupta had won Assembly elections from Udhampur constituency as an independent candidate after the BJP, the party with which he had long association denied him ticket. Later, he joined BJP after his brother won as an independent councilor followed by his election as president of Municipal Council, Udhampur as a BJP nominee. Meanwhile, the controversy involving Pawan Gupta has failed to die down as various social media platforms were still flooded with forwards and shares of the video containing his statement. |
