Admin woke-up from deep slumber, seals sweet shop for violating lockdown guidelines | ET report vindicated | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 12: The district administration Jammu has finally woken up from its deep slumber and sealed a famous sweet shop at Peer Mitha area for violating lockdown guidelines, which was exposed by Early Times, four days back, by publishing photographs of the “sweet packets” which were distributed among Saffron party leaders during a function. Early Times in its edition of May 8, 2020 had carried a story titled, “Are sweet shops closed or operational in Jammu? “Sweets Packets” of renowned shop distributed in saffron party’s function, raise eyebrows”. In the news story it was stated that as per orders the sweet shops across Jammu were closed but the presence of “Sweets packets” in the function of Mahila Morha during which the newly elected president of Morcha, had assumed office and a sweets packet from the renowned shop was found at the table. The report had signaled towards the hidden production of the sweets by the renowned sweet shop store, under the nose of authorities, for the last many days but instead of taking action on the next day the administration finally woke up from deep slumber and today sealed the shop at Peer Mitha. “During the sealing it was claimed that the shop was given permission to sell milk production but it had started production of sweets. But the action seems to be late as it was already known for the last over four-five days that the production of sweets had been going on in some of the shop of the renowned sweets makers”, an official said, adding that the action of authorities seemed delayed effort, which might be to save the owner from its previous violations of the lockdown guidelines.
