Stephens College of Nursing observes International Nurses Day | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 12: Stephens College of Nursing observed International Nurses Day on 12th May, 2020 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Ms. Florence Nightingale who was an English social reformer, statistician & founder of Modern Nursing. Due to lockdown, no celebration was done but still the day was observed with enthusiasm, fervour & zeal in stupendous & innovative manner by the management, faculty members and the students. Dr. Kamal Saini IPS (IGP Retd) Chairperson SCON, Satvinder Saini (Director SIPS) & Muni Dhar (Principal SCON) & Manoj Kotru (Administrator SCON) wished and congratulated all the faculty members for their sincere efforts & hard work. Mr. Manoj Kotru (Administrator SCON) commenced a plantation drive on the eve of Nurses Day to pay homage to the noblest soul – Florence Nightingale & to contribute to Mother Nature. . Manoj Kotru motivated the students to grow more & more trees to preserve & help nature to serve humanity selflessly & with nobility. The Nursing staff explained the students the Biography of Florence Nightingale, importance & Role of Nursing, Trends & Ethical issues in Nursing scope & nature of Nursing through online. A pledge was taken by the nursing staff & students at their respective places to serve humanity & people with dedication determination & diligence. A drive namely ‘RRC SCON COVID-19 AWARENESS’ is already commenced to cognizant the people to fight against COVID-19 with positivity & enthusiasm. Students served humanity by planting trees, feeding stray dogs & destitute, kindling candles & lamp to pay homage to ‘The Lady with Lamp Florence Nightingale’. The academic meritorious award in the shape of cash prize Rs 2000, Rs 1500 & Rs 1000 was awarded to Ms. Avneet Kour, Tajamul Bashir & Gurpreet Kour respectively for securing 1st, 2nd, 3rd position in Final Examination of B.Sc.(N) 1st year at University Level all the prizes were announced online. The whole day was dedicated to that lady who worked wholeheartedly & this day is celebrated to acknowledge & appreciated nurses’ contribution in the health sector. |
