Provide food, financial help to all vulnerable sections, demands Jan | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
POONCH, May 15: Youth National Conference (YNC) Provincial President and former MLA Poonch Ajaz Jan said the marginalized and vulnerable sections of Jammu and Kashmir are in extremely dire straits today because of the Covid-19 lockdown. Jan said that lakhs of migrant labourers are living in pathetic conditions. Their families in the villages are on the verge of starvation, adding that many households are becoming more and more indebted to meet their daily needs. He said that there is scarcity of essential items and the prices have sky-rocketed. It is disappointing that the Government of India has disregarded the woes of a large majority of Jammu and Kashmir people, adding Government of India spent nothing for the people of J&K on COVID-19 relief, the lowest in the country. Jan demanded immediate provision of doorstep delivery of free rations, vegetables, milk, drinking water, soaps, sanitizers and assured water supply for all vulnerable sections of society adding that take urgent steps to control the prices of all essential commodities. He sought transfer of Rs 3500 per month to all the Jan Dhan and MNREGA accounts. Make immediate payments of all arrears to ICDS workers, teachers, medical staff, MNREGA workers, municipal workers, Safai Karmacharis etc.
