IATO expresses dismay over lack of incentives for JKUT’s Tourism Industry | PM’s Economic Package | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 15: The Jammu & Kashmir UT, Tourism & Hospitality Industry is totally shocked and disappointed with the lack of any support for them even in the 3rd Covid-19 package announcement made by the Finance Minister today. Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) in a press statement said that it had already submitted a detailed memorandum to LG GC Murmu but it seems no thought has been given to hospitality industry’s plight. IATO said that the Tourism & Hospitality Industry of J&K is already reeling under enormous pressure from August 4, 2019 onwards, when the erstwhile State Govt ordered all the tourists to move out from the state in view of Abrogation of Article 370 and formation of Two Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir & Ladakh. There has been a total business shut down. Coupled with the snapping of telephone & internet facilities along-with a total lockdown by imposition of Sec144 & asking all tourists to leave J&K resulted in such a confusion and uncertainty that there has hardly been any movement or even enquiry by any potential tourist to visit the UT. |
