JAMMU, May 15: S Balvinder Singh, Social Activist along with civil society members like S Rajinder Singh Sudan, S Manjit Singh Khalsa, S. Sukhdev Singh and S Janak Singh have strongly condemned the denial of cremation of the dead body of Corona patient of Preet Nagar by Corporators of Ward 6 & 7 at Jogi gate Jammu. Singh said that despite the clear guidelines issued by World Health Organisation, dated 24.03.2020 and Govt of India Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) dated 15.03.2020 with regard to the Dead Body Management of the Covid -19 and clarification that infection unlikely to spread from dead body of corona patients, JK UT Govt has miserably failed to disseminate such information among the general public, so that their fear of being infected by the cremation of the dead body of the covid-19 patient be removed. The above said episode took place only because of the unawareness of the public. Singh said that guidelines point out that family and relatives of the deceased are allowed to view the body after it has been prepared for cremation/burial, in accordance with the customs, but they should not be allowed to wash, kiss or hug the body. The guidelines also underlined that the ash does not pose any risk and can be collected to perform the last rites. |
