JK Govt to introduce work from home module for Govt employees | Respective deptts to provide logistic support in form of laptop/desktop | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 16: The Jammu and Kashmir government like majority of the other Indian states is mulling to introduce all new set of rules for the government offices to function with work from home system to be further strengthened in view of the ongoing pandemic. Earlier, the reports inform that the government may provide the work from home option to eligible officers/staff for 15 days in a year as a matter of policy. The government as per the reports has informed all its departments that the Coronavirus pandemic has necessitated many ministries to operate from home to maintain social distancing. Central Government’s Department of Personal Training earlier issued a detailed statement in which it said the government departments may have to continue with staggered attendance and variable working hours to maintain social distancing at workplace in the near future. “Therefore, a broad framework for work from home is important to standardize the operating procedure even post lockdown situation and to ensure safety and security of information, while accessing government files and information remotely from home,” the DoPT said. Meanwhile, in Jammu and Kashmir, the government is also planning to introduce work from home culture to avoid contacts in the government offices to the maximum possible level. Services, as per the reports, shall be made available through the online mode and departments will ask to adopt latest services to make work from home proposal a success. Reports inform that there will be completely new set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the employees to ensure smooth and seamless functioning of the government for continuity of the office works besides imparting resilience in the ecosystem even post lock down situations. The government is also proposing that the Employees will be provided with the logistic supports in the form of laptop/ desktop by the respective departments so that they could work during their duty hours from home. “The central government has finalized the draft for these new rules. As far as the administration of Jammu and Kashmir is concerned, we have been planning to make maximum use to technology during the present pandemic. New guidelines shall be drafted and issued accordingly in near future,” said a senior official here. It was informed that the government in Jammu and Kashmir had taken a major initiative about 17 years back to implement e-governance in all the government departments, Public Sector Undertakings (PSU)s and other organization under the centrally sponsored scheme. Most of the support is provided by National Informatics Centre (NIC), which is a premier institution of the Government of India, established in 1976. Respective departments were asked to maintain the infrastructure which includes the software content. |
