Army personnel with travel history from UP found positive in Doda, already in quarantine | 139 people released in 2 days from quarantine centers at Kishtwar | | ASIF IQBAL NAIK Early Times Report
KISHTWAR, May 25: The Doda District in Chenab valley today reported 2nd COVID positive case after an army personal with travel history from Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah found positive today, who was later shifted to Command Hospital Udhampur. As per the details available with Early Times, the army personal having the rank of Subedar had arrived at Jammu where his sample was collected and accordingly army shifted him to Doda on May 21 and put him under quarantine at local army unit at Bhaderwah. The official sources told the Early Times that army on its own is tackling the case adding that army did not share any details about what protocol was followed by them while shifting him to Doda. They said that army officials had been asked not to come out of the unit following reporting of positive cases, adding that the earlier positive case which was found in Doda and turned out to be negative few days ago will be tested again in next couple of days. Meanwhile, 139 persons were released from various quarantine centers in Kishtwar District in the last two days including 83 yesterday on the eve of Eid while 56 were released today following their test samples were found out to be negative. Those who were released including the six family members of first COVID positive patient beside two doctors and pharmacist who came in close contact of the COVID positive case were also found out to be negative and were sent to home quarantine. Meanwhile, the people kept in various quarantine centers are continuously complaining about poor hygiene of food being served to them as well as also complain about poor condition of toilet complexes. In another development, the villagers in Sarthal area of Kishtwar District kept around 5 girls in village isolation unit as they were released from the quarantine center at Kishtwar from where a positive case was reported earlier. The villagers make arrangements of boarding and logging of these girls as a part of preventive measures to prevent the spread of deadly virus. The villagers said that even though the samples collected from them found to be negative, but no re-sampling had been collected from them after one positive case was reported from the centre where they were lodged. |
