Early Times Report

JAMMU, May 25: Federation of All India Trade Chambers and National Confederation of Trade Organizations today held a meeting through video conferencing to discuss the financial package announced by the central government.
17 top business leaders of the J&K UT participated in the meeting wherein traders expressed their indignation at the utter neglect of the community. It was accepted by all the present business leaders that the government ignored the merchant community's extremely valuable support in the nation's economy and instead of giving respect to the trading community; it was neglected by the union government.
Out of the Rs 20 lakh crore relief package announced by the government, there was anger among the participants for not getting anything for the retail traders
National General Secretary of the Federation, VK Bansal said that after the meeting, it was decided by all the organizations after mutual discussion that the National Confederation, Federation of All India Trade Board should made direct contact with the Central Government and some important demands should be placed before it.
It was stated that the demands made will not only bring relief for the businessmen and at the same time the government does not have to bear any financial burden.
In this series, a letter on this subject was sent by the Federation to Prime Minister today, whose advance copy was also sent to Finance Minister, Minister of Commerce and Industry, and Small Industries Minister.
The main demands raised by the Federation included issuance of Udyog Aadhaar card, so that the merchant class will get all the benefits of the small and micro business, not to charge more than 6% interest on the loans given to small traders in the half of April 2020 to September 2020, loans under Mudra scheme up to 10 lakhs should be reserved for retail traders only, single point GST system in the merchant interest and free the traders from the hassle of GST besides projecting other demands.
