GDC Nowshera organizes online inter-collegiate quiz competition

RAJOURI, May 25: With a motive to engage the student community constructively amid lock down, Department of Botany, Government Degree College Nowshera today organized an online quiz competition on the topic “Plant Anatomy and Embryology”.
The quiz was organized by Dr Shagun Bali, Lecturer Botany under the supervision of Prof. Pooja Devi, Head of Botany Department and the able guidance of Dr Surinder Kumar, Principal GDC Nowshera.
A total of 384 participants from 45 different institutions across the country participated in the event. Of these, 298 respondents (77%) secured more than 50% marks. The quiz was based on multiple-choice questions related to the topic.
The quiz competition witnessed a remarkable enthusiasm amongst the students of different institutions.
The organizers of the event added that such brainstorming events will be helpful for the students to evaluate their knowledge of Plant Sciences, to improve their thinking/mental skills and preparation for future competitive examinations.
The enthusiasm shown by the student community provides incentives for similar competitions to be organized especially during the lockdown period.
At the end of the quiz, there was a special prayer by Principal, Dr Surinder Kumar and others present for speedy recovery of COVID-19 patients and the participants were urged to follow precautionary and preventive measures against coronavirus.
