EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, May 26: J&K Electrical Graduates Engineering Association (JKEEGA) has expressed a grave concern on the plight of the employees of Power Department especially after yesterday when one of the employee of JPDCL have tested positive for COVID-19 and some of the employees have already been placed under quarantine measures.
A delegation of JKEEGA led by its president, Er Harvrinder Singh called upon Managing Director JPDCL, Yasha Mudgal and apprised her about the panic in the minds of hundreds of power employees on the field who are working round the clock to provide smooth and reliable power supply amid COVID-19 infection spread.
It has been seen that spike of infection has risen in last few days and power department employees are also not untouched to it. During this critical COVID-19 pandemic situation, the engineers as well as employees of DISCOMS are at high risk as they have to visit the field areas for maintenance and repair of power network and to ensure 24x7 power supply to the quarantine centers spread across all over J&K.
JKEEGA also demanded that the policy of Rs 50 lakh insurance cover as extended to Police Personnel, Healthcare providers, Community healthcare workers and Private healthcare staff may also be extended to the Engineers and Employees of Power Development Department on deputation to Power Corporations of Union Territory of J&K.
The MD JPDCL gave a patient hearing to all the genuine demands of the association and assured that she will put forward the genuine demands of the association to the higher authorities with recommendations for their immediate redressal.
