AAA Jammu holds meet, discusses problems of artists during lockdown

JAMMU, May 26: In order to discuss the plight of artists and those connected in this line, a meeting of All Artists Association (AAA), Jammu was held today in which prominent artists participated and discussed at length the difficulties being faced by them following lockdown announced by Government since last over two months.
In the meeting, it was pointed out that due to lockdown, the cultural activities have come to a complete stand still with many indigent and financially poor artists and also all others connected in the line have been hit hard financially in as much as they have reached at the verge of starvation. It was added that they need immediate financial help enabling them to make both ends meet during tough time.
During discussion, it was highlighted that the payment on account of programmess done by various artists has been pending for years together in Doordarshan, Jammu and Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Jammu and demanded from the concerned Departments that their payment be released immediately on priority basis.
The Artists present in the meeting appealed the Government to provide suitable financial assistance to all the artists. The artists who attended the meeting were Dharminder Kohli, Tilak Raj Tagotra, Surinder Manhas, Rakesh Anand, Romesh Singh Chib, Ram Pal, Aditya Bhanu and Sahil Mahajan.
