Social media posts from past haunt police officer | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 31: A senior police officer in the Jammu and Kashmir Police has come under the scanner of the establishment for the social media comments he had allegedly made a few years ago, prompting the government to call for a probe. Sources said the police official who is posted in the Cyber police in Kashmir has come under scanner of New Delhi for the posts he had allegedly made against the Prime Minister. Sources said the government has called for a probe to know the veracity of the posts that are being attributed to the said official. It was reliably learnt that the Home department was looking ahead to transfer the said official from the key post he presently holds if the allegations against him are proved to be true. Sources said the issue has already been discussed at highest quarters and that New Delhi has sought a serious look into the matter. “Such irresponsible posts are not supposed to come from a government servant that too the one who is serving the prestigious police department… There’s every possibility that in the first instance he could be transferred if the allegations leveled against him are proven,” said a source close to the Home Department. Sources said the civil administration has already discussed the matter with the top officials in the police department. Sources said while some of the police officers are in support of action against the said officer, a few of his colleagues have come to his support. Sources said the said official has come to know about the possible disciplinary action against him and thus has reassured the department that he has “behaved responsibly all through his life.” Sources said the police officer has already geared up activities of the cyber police and has come up with notifications that people should feel free to contact his office for any complaint related to cyber policing. The police officer is understood to have compiled a detail report of his achievements in the cyber police in support of his dedication towards the duties. Despite repeated attempts the said police official was not available for comments. |
