Jammu leaders sabotaging appointment of Ladakh BJP president | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 1: Almost one month has passed after Ladakh BJP president Chering Dorjay has resigned from BJP, party has yet not appoint any person to head the party in the UT. Instead of appointing any working president to conduct day today activities of party, leadership is buying time. Credible sources said that a group of BJP leaders in Jammu, who have already captured the J&K unit of the party, were creating hurdles in appointment of new Ladakh president. These leaders were trying their best to control Ladakh unit of the party also because they have habit of control all activities of party in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. In the erstwhile state of J&K, this group had completely controlled the party in all aspects be it taking important political decisions, appointing office bearers or managing finance of the party. Ladakh president of BJP, Chering Dorjay had resigned from primary membership of the party on May 4. After Dorjay, another BJP leader from Ladakh resigned from the party on May 6 over the Centre’s failure to address the issue of stranded Ladakhis in parts of the country and overseas. Tsering Gyalpo, also a former SP-level officer, in the resignation letter, said, “The Union Territory (UT) administration of Ladakh has not taken the elected representatives of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council-Leh into confidence on any subject. The handling of the evacuation of stranded people is one such example.” Gyalpo had sent his resignation to national president J.P. Nadda. “The delay in evacuation has allegedly resulted in the death of two Ladakhis in Jodhpur. I am pained to see the plight of the Ladakhi people suffering in different parts of India and abroad.” Gyalpo had also supported decision of Ladakh BJP president Chering Dorjay. |
