| People allege substandard material used in construction of new bunkers | | |

POONCH, June 26: Life of border dwellers, particularly those living near the fence along LoC in Balakote tehsil of Sub Division Mendhar of Poonch District, has become hell due to continuous shelling and indiscriminate firing from across the border by Pakistan which affects a dozens of villages.
Locals of Balakot said that the bunkers in the border areas are constructed by using inferior quality materials.
They alleged that there are some areas where there has not been a single fire till date but because of the influence of few political leaders, bunkers were allotted there and where there was urgent need of the bunkers, there is no such provision.
Sarpanch Balakote, Nusrat Ayaz Balakotvi and youth leader Zaheer Khan called for indepth probe from a central agency in implementing of scheme for construction of bunkers in LoC villages.
Duo alleged poor implementation and misuse of funds so far. They alleged favouritism in selection of bunker sites with many bunkers yet to reach to plinth level after digging of pits. They rejected the statement of some leaders that bunker construction is a successful exercise. |
