KCST, CUJ sanctions first financial grant for six research projects | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 27: Governing Council of Kalam Centre for Science and Technology (KCST), CUJ (a DRDO sponsored Centre of Excellence) sanctioned the first financial grant of Rs 1253.42 lakh for the execution of six research projects for three years under the Verticals Sensors and Computational System Security. This amount includes Rs 538.42 lakh for Research Projects and Rs 715 lakh for the construction of KCST building. The first Meeting of Governing Council (GC), Kalam Centre of Science and Technology (KCST), Central University of Jammu (CUJ), Jammu was held on 10th June 2020 through video conferencing under the Chairmanship of Dr G Satheesh Reddy, Secretary DDR&D & Chairman DRDO and Co-Chairmanship of Prof Ashok Aima, Vice-Chancellor, CUJ, Jammu. The Chairman, DRDO Dr G Satheesh Reddy emphasized the importance of Computational System Security and Sensors in the present scenario. He also mentioned that the protection of Cyber-Physical System and Data Security during the routing is of utmost importance and emphasized the need for skill development in computational security. Further, he mentioned that sensors developed in this research centre should come as a product with state-of-art technology. He wished that in two and a half years, KCST will emerge as a focussed research centre and prominent work centre in the country. Prof Ashok Aima Vice Chancellor Central University of Jammu thanked Chairman DRDO for this venture which opens up a new chapter in CUJ. He said such collaboration of CUJ with DRDO would unfold in times to come to a new institutional collaboration by synchronizing experience and expertise to create a new pathway for research and innovations in this region. Governing Council unanimously appointed Prof B S Bhau, Dean Research CUJ as Director, KCST.
