Dhanwa residents carry out protest against water scarcity | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, July 6: People of Dhanwa village of this district protested against the Jal Shakti department and expressed strong anger. Led by Sarpanch Ashok Bhamba the people shouted slogans against the department for its failure to provide clean drinking water on regular basis. They expressed strong anger and said that the condition of the dug well built decades ago in the said village is so poor that the drinking water stored inside it is not even potable. Not only this, the pump installed in the dug well is also decades old and is often bad. The Sarpanch said that thousands of people of three villages depend on the said dug well for water and in such a situation, the condition of the dug well and poor pumping often creates problems for the people. The Sarpanch said that for the last about 15 days, the pump has been damaged and there has been no water in the houses of people for 15 days. In the midst of scorching heat, people are craving for drinking water. Zafar Iqbal JE of the department assured the protesters that their problem would be resolved in a few days. |
