CMC Hospital Ludhiana conducts successful reimplantation of the amputated thumb | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 17: A team led by Jammu based doctor Dr Pinki Pargal working in CMC Hospital ,Ludhiana as Professor plastic surgery treated a patient aged 29 year old male from Ludhiana who was a case of assault leading to the total amputation of his left thumb and multiple other sharp injuries. Dr Pinki Pargal who is hailing from Jammu is the daughter of Chaman Lal Gupta R/O Gandhi Nagar. Dr Pinki did her MBBS and MS(Surgery) from GMC Jammu. Thereafter she did her M.Ch (Plastic Surgery) from CMC Ludhiana and after completing her course she joined the hospital as Assistant Professor. Recently, she was promoted as Professor in the department of Plastic Surgery. The patient was immediately taken up for digital re-implant procedure by the treating doctor and his thumb was reimplanted after surgery lasting six hours. After the procedure of re-implant was done, his thumb was well vascularised and the patient is doing well and planned for discharge. The treating doctor expressed satisfaction that she was able to restore his hand function & prevented patient from going disable.She further said that CMC hospital is a pioneer of such microvascular surgeries.
