SRINAGAR, July 17: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir continues to witness a spike in the Corona Virus cases as 601 fresh cases of the virus were reported today. The death toll due to COVID-19 reached 231 as nine more people died in the past 24 hours. Reports said that Srinagar reported four fresh deaths followed by Pulwama two deaths and Shopian, Budgam & Bandipora one death each. In the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir the Kashmir valley has recorded 213 deaths while as Jammu division has recorded 18 deaths. Srinagar tops the list in this regard with 59 deaths. The Srinagar district reported 152 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Shopian 82 cases, Baramulla 62 cases, Anantnag 51 cases, Budgam 46 cases, Ramban 41 cases, Ganderbal 29 cases, Kathua 21 cases, Pulwama 19 cases, Jammu 16 cases, Udhampur and Samba 15 cases each, Kupwara and Rajouri 12 cases each, Kulgam and Kishtwar 10 cases each, Poonch four cases, Reasi three cases and Bandipora one case. The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 601 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 137 from Jammu division and 464 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 12,757. Also nine COVID-19 deaths have been reported from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 112 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 63 from Jammu Division and 49 from Kashmir Division. Out of 12,757 positive cases, 5,968 are active positive, 6,558 have recovered and 231 have died; 18 in Jammu division and 213 in Kashmir division. Out of 4, 89,382 test results available, 4, 76,625 samples have tested negative till date. Additionally, till date 3, 25,291 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 37,924 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 13 in hospital quarantine, 5,968 in hospital isolation and 44,305 under home surveillance. Besides, 2, 36,850 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 2,486 positive cases, 1,861 active positive, 566 recovered, 59 deaths; Baramulla has 1,464 positive cases, 834 active positive, 582 recovered, 48 deaths; Kulgam has 1,113 positive cases, 390 active positive, 700 recovered, 23 deaths; Shopian has 1,055 positive cases, 313 active positive, 724 recovered, 18 deaths; Anantnag district has 988 positive cases, 325 active positive, 646 recovered, 17 deaths. “Kupwara has 831 positive cases, 292 active positive, 526 recovered, 13 deaths; Pulwama has 794 positive cases, 389 active positive, 395 recovered, 10 deaths; Budgam has 708 positive cases, 351 active positive, 340 recovered, 17 deaths; Bandipora has 423 positive cases, 106 active positive, 313 recovered, four deaths and Ganderbal has 251 positive cases, 146 active positive, 101 recovered, four deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 569 positive cases, 180 active positive, 378 recovered, 11 deaths; Kathua has 349 positive cases, 111 active positive, 237 recovered, one death; Rajouri has 333 positive cases, 234 active positive, 98 recovered, one death; Udhampur has 322 positive cases, 32 active positive, 289 recovered, one death; Ramban has 318 positive cases, 104 active positive, 214 recovered. “Samba has 316 positive cases, 143 active positive, 172 recovered, one death; Doda has 154 positive cases, 70 active positive, 82 recovered, two deaths; Poonch has 152 positive cases, 28 active positive, 123 recovered, one death; Kishtwar has 68 positive cases, 41 active positive, 27 recovered and Reasi has 63 positive cases, 18 active positive, 45 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 12,757 positive cases 3147 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
