NPP protests against alleged corrupt practices in Education Dept | | | Early Times Report
RAMBAN, July 17: Carrying forward the series of protests against the devastated education system in J&K which is teetering to brink due to prevalent corrupt practices in Education Department, scores of Panther activists of NPP led by Sewa Singh Bali General Secretary Panthers Trade Union staged a vociferous protest demonstration at Ukhral in district Ramban today. While raising slogans, the angry protesters burnt the effigy of Director SEJ for her brazen involvement in illegal transfers, attachments and promotions of the teachers in the education department. Speaking to the media, Sewa Singh Bali regretted that several schools in remote and far flung areas of Ramban have become defunct due to the shortage of teachers, masters and lecturers. “The academic activity of the students has been severely affected in the past many years due to the deficiency of the teaching fraternity in the schools located in the hinterland. Shockingly, thousands of employees including the teachers, Masters, Lecturers and even ReTs are found attached in the office of DSEJ, CEOs, ZEOs, Tehsildars in entire Jammu division against which they have been drawing salaries without any work. All such malpractices have been committed by DSEJ on extraneous grounds in gross violation of the guidelines and rules”, Bali said. He further stated that thousands of such incumbents are also drawing the HRA by causing huge burden on the public exchequer. Crores of rupees have been siphoned off by these employees. He demanded high level probe against the erring bureaucrat for her involvement in corrupt practices and immediate revocation of all the appointments done on the basis of invalid degrees besides cancellation of all other illegal transfers and promotions of the teachers done by the DSEJ.
