70 fresh positive cases, 289 recovered, 66 deaths so far in north Kashmir | Baramulla second highest district with 48 casualties in the UT of J&K | | S TAHIR-UL HAQ Early Times Report
KUPWARA, July 18: Despite complete lockdown and other restrictions, still then after out of 441 positive cases, seventy fresh positive cases were reported today, there are 1012 active positive cases, cumulative cases crossed over 2788, while 66 deaths have occurred so far in north Kashmir as on date. According to the district wise positive cases that are available as on July 18, 2020 (Saturday), in Baramulla district, 63 fresh positive cases including 04 traveler and 59 others that were reported today, there has been an increase in the cumulative cases that have gone up to 1527, while as yesterday there were just 1464 and there has been decline in the active positive cases that stands at 631 and yesterday it was 834, and cumulative recovered cases are 848 including 266 of today, while as 48 deaths have occurred so far in this district. In Kupwara district, 02 fresh positive cases including one each from travelers and others were reported today, while 287 are active positive cases as on date and cumulative stands at 833 and cumulative recovered are 533 including 07 of today and 13 deaths have occurred so far. In Bandipora district, there is a decline in overall Covid-19 cases, as 05 fresh positive cases were reported today including 04 travelers and 01 from others category, whereas 428 are cumulative cases, only 94 are active positive, 329 are cumulative recovered including 16 as on date and 5 deaths have occurred so far. There is also good news from all the three districts of north Kashmir especially in Baramulla district where 266 people have recovered today followed by Kupwara where 16 have recovered and 07 from Bandipora also. People believe that, strict lockdown and restriction on the movement of public transport could yield the fruitful results in the entire north Kashmir, while as fact of the matter is, Baramulla is the second highest district where casualties have reached to 48 so far, second highest after Srinagar district. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr G N Itoo today inspected several locations at Baramulla and Sopore towns to take first hand appraisal of implementation of lockdown and other SOPs pertaining to COVID-19 pandemic. Appreciating the cooperation of people in observing lockdown, DC urged upon them to follow all the requisite advisories especially using face masks and maintaining social distancing. He said that adopting such measures are necessary for safeguarding themselves from Coronavirus infection. Pertinently, District Administration Baramulla had yesterday imposed 3 days lockdown as a precautionary measure to minimize the spread of COVID-19 infection.
