AIJMS hails reservation for border residents, demands OBC status for Jats | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 18: AIJMS J&K hailed central government for granting reservation rights to the people residing in border areas of J&K UT. President AIJMS, Choudhary Manmohan Singh on behalf of his Jat Biradari and all the other Biradaris living near border areas expressed gratitude towards the authorities for giving this benefit to these people. Choudhary said that more than 80% of our birdari lives along border and this reservation will change the future of their coming generations. It has taken us, as a biradari, huge efforts and many years to achieve this landmark for our people, he added. He said that for the benefit of the border people, it was important for them to be included in a category that will help their coming generations avail training and jobs. For this, AIJMS J&K with its central body members Yudhvir Singh and Rakesh Tikait met with Minister of Defence, Rajnath Singh in Delhi. In this meeting, Choudhary along with central body members laid out all the demands of the Jat biradari, especially Category status for residents falling under border reservation. Now, with the grant of category, their children have hopes of competing with other contenders for jobs. This will benefit them in the upcoming recruitment for IV class job opening. However, Manmohan Singh said that this category will not be the end of their biradari’s demand. He said that Governments kept changing every few years, but their demands were the same and till date, their issues were not given proper consideration and time. But now we know better, we know how to proceed with our issues. Now it’s time to move on to our other concerns. Our biradari should be given OBC category at par with that of Jats of all states, he demanded.
