VC SKUAST Jammu for conservation of local maize germplasm | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 2: Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu visited Maize Research Station Rakh Sansoo, Udhampur. The Vice Chancellor Professor JP Sharma interacted with the scientists and non-teaching employees of the Maize Research Station Udhampur. At the outset Dr Ravinder Singh Sudan Associate Professor (PBG) & Incharge MRS along with other staff welcomed the Vice Chancellor at the station. He also visited to the Research Farm and planted a Mango sapling. He took a round of farm and physically monitored the Maize Research Trials and other crops laid out in the farm and appreciated the work done by the Maize Staff. Prof Sharma also directed the staff to work hard for the welfare of the farming community. While visiting the farm he stressed upon exploring the possibility of irrigation facility to provide life saving irrigation to the crop. He also appreciated the maintenance of local maize germplasm collection of Jammu Province and inbred lines maintained at Maize Research Station Udhampur. Vice Chancellor also discussed for the status of establishment of KVK, Udhampur at the farm. Later the staff thanked Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu for his visit and providing for valuable suggestions for the improvement of the farm. |
